Touch and Feel Mug

Brief: Create a futuristic cult object

Even the best possible technology doesn’t replace a person whether they are a few streets away or on the other side of the world. Hearing their voice or seeing them through a computer screen isn’t enough, something more tactile is needed.

As a nation we are becoming obsessed with coffee shops creating a coffee shop culture where friends and family often meet to ‘catch up’ which is where the inspiration came from for the Touch and Feel Mug. As the user wraps their hands around the mug it reminds them of chatting to a loved one, adding a tactile emotion to a long distance conversation.

As the user holds the Touch and Feel Mug, they can feel the indentation of the other person’s hand, giving a more tactile form of long distance communication. A hologram of the person is then projected onto any surface or wall.
